TV LIFE 8.27-9.9 Let’s talk Arashi ni Shiyagare!
TL: First of all, the cast of the popular comedy program Shouten appeared on the Deathmatch segment of Shiyagare on 7/30, right?
Aiba: Having Shouten on gave such a different energy, it was mysterious but also really fun.
Ohno: I thought it was a valuable experience.
Aiba: I agree. We don’t often have the opportunity to do a segment together. The segment itself was difficult and took a lot of thought.
Ohno: It was hard to keep energized and I really didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing. (laughs)
TL: Well, why don’t you guys try to do the classic “aiueo” writing challenge. Give it a shot!
Aiba: It wouldnt be good; I would fail!
Ohno: Maybe I could come up with something with 10 seconds remaining. Hold on. (laughs) I would do it if I could just…
Aiba: If I say “good luck!” maybe it will help. The last one there should be “re”, right?
Ohno: Hm? “Re”?
Aiba: Well, anything works! (laughs)
Ohno: レッツゴー! (Let’s go!)
Aiba: Ahaha! That was pretty good, wasn’t it? It seemed good to me.
Ohno: Seemed great! (laugh)
TL: What were your impressions of Ohno’s “Let’s Make~” segment? TV announcer Shinichi Hatori was the guest this time.
Ohno: Ah yeah. The two of us went to a local area for the first time in ages. I was glad. It has been a very long time. We got to catch up on a lot of topics. Also, I can respect his cooking. The dumplings were surprisingly good.
Aiba: Some food was brought back to the studio, so I got to try it as well as some carbonated canned fruits. I really love fruit, so having them like that was very summery.
Ohno: When you go to eat it, it kind of melts in your mouth, so that is interesting.
TL: Please tell me anything you have cooked privately recently.
Ohno: I made… nabe (hotpot soup). It isn’t very summery, but… (laughs)
Aiba: Ahaha! But it doesn’t matter, right?
Ohno: Right, I bought vegetables and chicken at the supermarket, so I made a chicken nabe. The soup had a shouyu (soy sauce) base. It had been a long time since I made nabe at home. But I got full so fast! (laugh)
Aiba: Recently, I’ve been putting canned uni (sea urchin) in everything. I eat it over tofu. It is so good.
Ohno: Ah, that sounds sooo good.
TL: Finally, current events! What has happened recently?
Ohno: Well, we did the Shizuoka leg of our tour recently. We went there by bus.
Aiba: We did. Five people riding together in one bus. (laughs)
Ohno: We came back by bus, too but mosquitoes bit me the whole way back. *playful sobs* I was dying!
Aiba: We were clamoring on the bus.
Ohno: Yes! (laughs) I was sitting next to Aiba like, “I’m so itchy!” They got the base of my leg, then wrist, like that. It slowly spread all over. But Aiba chan next to me got nothing! So then I began to worry that it wasn’t mosquitoes and that I was getting some sickness…
Aiba: You were thinking that? (laughs)
Ohno: So on the way, I moved to the toilet with just my electronics to keep away from the others. But it ended up being mosquito bites after all. Sho chan had topical cream for me to put on the itchy spots. …That is the most memorable thing recently. (laughs) ***
Bonus! Reader question!
Aiba, do you wear the jeans you got from Leader for Christmas often?
Aiba: I’ve worn them many times.
Ohno: The staff and I have witnessed it!
Aiba: They’re easy to just throw on when going out.
Ohno: That makes me glad.
Aiba: I really like the odd metal fittings on the jeans. I did have to get the waist button fixed once from wearing them so often.
Ohno: Sorry about that!
Aiba: No, it’s ok! I fixed them and I still wear them because I love them! ***
